Keith Eckert
Dear Esteemed Colleagues,
I am writing to ask for your support as I campaign for the role of Vice President of the Manchester Township Education Association. With nearly two decades of service to our school district and commitment to the betterment of our profession, I believe I am well-equipped to represent our collective interests and advance our goals as educators.
Throughout my 19 years as a teacher in Manchester Township, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges and triumphs that shape our profession. I have participated in many union events and initiatives such as the Summer Leadership Conference, Winter Leadership Conference, Collective Bargaining Summit, NJEA Convention, and Unity Night, experiences that have broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of the issues facing our profession.
My dedication to our union extends beyond attendance at conferences and events. For the past 17 years, I have been actively involved in the Manchester Township Education Association, advocating for the rights and welfare of our members. I have served as a building representative for the high school, parliamentarian and served on our grievance, negotiations and budget committees. I chair the constitution committee, ensuring that our union's governing document reflects our shared values and principles. This year I advocated for our support staff to have a seat on the executive committee as second vice-president to ensure all members have a voice. This was strongly opposed by our current vice president. She believes our support staff members are not qualified. This is false! Support staff member, Justin Jacobs, has attended numerous NJEA training workshops, is a strong advocate for the union and negotiated a key raise for the bus drivers. He is one support staff member who I believe would be an excellent second vice-president. Additionally, I took the initiative to establish a diversity, equity and inclusion committee, recognizing the importance of creating a safe and equitable learning environment for our colleagues.
If elected as Vice President, I will continue to work tirelessly to address the concerns and needs of our membership. I am committed to fostering collaboration and dialogue among our members, administrators, and the board of education to promote positive changes and uphold the integrity of our profession.
I kindly ask for your vote and support in the upcoming election. I promise to strengthen our union and empower our profession for the betterment of our students and Manchester.
Sincerely,
Keith Eckert
